Internal Medicine
Internal medicine is the medical specialty that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. It does not include pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, or surgery, The Scarsdale Medical Group partners are all board certified in Internal Medicine, and many are dual-certified in Internal Medicine and a medical subspecialty: cardiology, endocrinology, geriatrics, hematology, infectious disease, oncology, pulmonary medicine, and rheumatology. Of course, the main goal of an internist is to prevent disease rather than manage complications. Patients should expect to be advised about their ongoing efforts at living well, eating a healthy diet, and maintaining a regular exercise routine.
