Marvin M. Lipman, MD

Marvin M. Lipman, MD, FACP, FACE is one of the original members of the Scarsdale Medical Group. He graduated from Columbia College and the Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons where he was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He trained at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center and the Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed a fellowship in endocrinology at Columbia before joining Scarsdale Medical Group.

He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology. Dr. Lipman is section chief (emeritus) of medicine at White Plains Hospital and was chief of the endocrine sections at both White Plains Hospital and Westchester Medical Center. He is clinical professor of medicine at New York Medical College in Valhalla. Dr. Lipman has also served as president of the Westchester Academy of Medicine. In 2008, he was awarded the gold medal of the Alumni Association of the College of Physicians & Surgeons and was a Columbia University Alumni Medalist in 2013.

Dr. Lipman was the chief medical adviser to Consumers Reports from 1967 to 2018. He was also the medical editor of their monthly newsletter, Consumer Reports on Health from its inception in 1989 and is known for his many Office Visit articles on health and medicine. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the U.S. Pharmacopeia as well as several FDA advisory panels.

He is a strong advocate for patients’ rights and drug safety and encourages his patients to participate actively in their healthcare.
